Suggestions from the Master Distiller

The guardian of a legacy, dating from 1834, he orchestrates and distils the complex arrangements of natural flavours while respecting the essence of the fruit and botanics. The result is an incomparable length and balance in the mouth.
Combier’s signature style.

A voyage into the heart of the alembic stills

The Combier distillery is the oldest in activity in the Loire Valley. Founded in 1834, it has remained anchored ever since on the same plot in the heart of Saumur. From the start, the distillery took full advantage of its position deep in the « Garden of France » to source local produce: fruit, flowers and medicinal plants. More exotic ingredients: spices and citrus fruits would have arrived on traditional boats from the Atlantic port of Nantes.

A journey through the history of the distillery

The historical alembic stills are where the magic lies at Distillerie Combier. The ten iconic stills are safely housed in a metallic structure designed by Gustave Eiffel’s skilled engineers. Little has changed here in over 185 years. Utmost attention to detail, a passion for handcrafting spirits and the highest standards prevail. As you follow in the steps of our master distiller, you will enter a world of commitment and innovation, of epic travels, tantalising flavours and ancient techniques. A place where the taste buds are awakened and fragrances of fruit, spices, herbs, and blossoms captivate your senses… A delightful interlude to savour.
